It's been a long time since our last stealth camping site. We are back walking again. This time on one of the many feeder trails to join the Camino de Santiago Pilgrimage Trail. This one is called Voie de Vezelay. Andrea and Joe dropped us off in Limoges, a good size town, where we spent the weekend exploring. I say the weekend, but it was really only Saturday since nothing is open on Sunday. Seriously, nothing was open. Even the grocery store was closed! We did find a Panera Bread like place open for a late breakfast after a running tour of town. Limoges is famous for their porcelain. Shops and antique stores around town carry the local craft. The city is beautiful and easy to get around by walking, plus the Voie de Vezelay trail runs right through the middle.
We left town in a drizzle following the well marked trail out of town. I can tell it's going to take a while to get back into this rhythm. I'm sure it was just us, but it seemed like the universe was against us today. There were lots of denials today. We looked for a place to pick up our official hiking passport. No. Only on Tuesdays and Fridays. Place for lunch? No. Ate under a canopy at a sports field. Place for dinner? No. It's Monday, so we picked up food at the grocery and had a beer at the local bar. Place to sleep in Aixe-sur-Vienne? No. No place to sleep in town. We did find a campground along the river in town that had closed for the season. Shadow followed a closed off lane and found a perfect waterfront site for our tent. The weather cleared and we enjoyed a nice evening picnic outside.
