We returned Mom and Dad to Seattle airport and posted bail for both Judy and Beulah. Neither of us had discussed where to go on our journey next so we made our way to the base of Mt. Rainier off US12. After exiting I-5 we passed to girl hikers hitching a ride back to the PCT and of course we had to stop. They loaded into Beulah, we made a quick stop to drop her off, and began the winding 40mile drive to White Pass. The views of Mt. Rainier were spectacular on the way home. A nice lady named Joyce runs an RV park outside of MossyRock, WA. She's a spitfire just like Shadow's mom. The park is one of the nicest we have seen in a while, along side a lake. She normally doesn't allow extended rentals but with Shadow being "such a handsome man" she allowed us to stay last minute for a month. With only a day left before heading back to work we decide to do some home improvement. Shadow had already finished removing the last bit of carpet from the bedroom and laid laminate wood flooring down. Which looks great. Beulah's doctor recommended us spray painting her stripes instead of scraping them off so we carefully prepped, taped, and sprayed one side of her. She now has Champagne Mist and Bronze as her stripes which beautifully covers her faded red and blue.
I was lucky enough to only spend a week on the road which gave us time for a training hike before Shadow attempts Mt. Rainier.
We found ourselves back at White Pass within 24 hours of my plane landing with our packs on and ready for what is said to be the second most scenic part of the PCT.
This evening we lay back in our home away from home by Ginnette Lake. The air is still and cool. The forest is quite and peaceful. A few dragonflies flutter around us as we eat dinner and Judy is ready for another adventure.
