Pop Tarts and Hot Dogs

Sept. 16th-28th
We decided to take a trail less traveled on our back back to the car and hitch-hike a few miles back. Judy's hunger strike continued. I'm beginning to think her new food hurts her belly so we are going be to her favorite Rachel Ray dog food when we get back. Needless to say, we shared our breakfast with her. She started the day with 2 blueberry pop tarts in her belly.
We made it to US12 by lunch. Shadow hitched a ride while Judy and started walking down the road. When a car pulled over to give him a ride, he jumped in to find more PCT hikers. They started talking and turns out one hiker was a guys we met in Virginia on the AT! It's a small hiking world. Mark Trail is his name and last year he decided to start a Trash Tour on the AT. When we met him in Virginia, he was carrying a lawn chair he had found. His group cleaned the AT which is definitely needed in some parts. Most people walk by the trash because they don't want to carry extra weight.
The Toad (our car) was waiting for him at the trailhead. We had left a zip-lock baggy of dog biscuits in the car door and it looks as if a mouse had chewed a hole in the bag and ate half of a biscuit. The mouse would have to wait because we were hungry. The town of Packwood was on our way home and we found a cool burger and shake place with outside seating. Judy was ready for her reward so while we scarfed down a burger and shake, she had a hotdog. Being the carboholic that she is, she ate the bun first.
Back at Beulah (our RV) we opened all the doors and the hood looking for the mouse, but he was nowhere to be found.

The trail less traveled.
Dried spring runoff.
Checking our Topographic skills.
Hitching Home.

The best place for and after hike burger, beer, and shake.
