Boondock'n

October 2nd-
Today we rolled up the awning, sucked in the slides, started up the V-10 after a month in the Southern Washington to make our way back East for the Holidays. Beulah's front slide is still sticks out while driving so Shadow used a ratchet strap to hold it closed on our drive home. A strong Cold front pushed Beulah over the Cascades and into the Yakima valley via US12. Through the vineyards and orchards plump with ripe fruit including the state's famous apples. A quick lunch stop at the home of Chukka Cherries is where Judy happened upon a Slim Jim someone threw out in the pet area.
We crossed the merge of two rivers that begin the enormous Columbia River and followed the Lewis and Clark Trail. The fruit belt turned to rolling golden hills of farmland as we continued the backroads to Idaho. Lewiston was our stop for the night. The original capital of Idaho which is also the only seaport in the state via the massive Clearwater River. As most of you probably have seen, Walmarts are the best picks for free RV parking. With a Costco across the street we decided to stretch our legs. On our way back to Beulah the sky turned dark and the wind began to gust over 35mph. I started ravioli on the propane stove and opened a bottle of Columbia Valley wine while Shadow decided to reposition Beulah into the wind. It's safe to say that I will never want to live on a sail boat. The three of us exchanged looks and she rocked back and forth with every gust. Luckily the front passed and the wind settled with cooler temperatures. I was dreading a night where our RV turned into a sailboat.
