A Little Bit of the South in Alaska

After our annual pilgrimage to the Romines Family Vacation, Shadow’s back gave out from his wild ways.  The diagnosis, a leaking torn disc from a bulge and cyst.  Ouch!  We fortunately found a surgeon in the next town over that specialized in the surgery he needed. He also happened to be from Chattanooga, TN.  After a month in ridiculous pain, Shadow was finally getting the relief he desperately needed.  Those of you that know Shadow will not be surprised that by dinner time after surgery he was eating lasagna for dinner and asking to go home.  4 days later the doctor gave him his wish…

A couple weeks later my parents came to visit.  It was the perfect cure for Shadow’s cabin fever.  1,400 miles on the rental seeing as much of Alaska as possible.  From a flat tire in McCarthy to feeding Musk Oxen.  From floating past icebergs in Valdez to the end of the road in Denali.  No stone was left unturned.
