This past Winter was a little more subdued do to recovery time we needed both physically and mentally. Carmel, CA was a perfect spot for both. Shadow needed time to complete his back recovery from surgery and Judy's passing left a huge hole in our hearts.
We found a cute little RV park tucked in the Carmel hills 5 miles from the beach where we camp-hosted (worked a few hours per week for a free place to stay).
I spent most of my time training for a half marathon and taking watercolor classes. Shadow rode his bike while I ran, took sailing lessons, and by January 1st he was dusting off his golf swing.
My family came just in time to see the whale migration over Christmas.
Judy's ashes sit in a simple pine box on Large Marge's (RV) dash. We met a couple that had just moved to the area in their RV with a young son. He would come over and shake Judy in her box, curios to see what's inside. It warmed my heart to know someone was giving her attention. She would have loved playing with him.
Most evenings Shadow and I bounced ideas back and forth about what to do next. Buy a sail boat? Spend the Summer traveling Europe? Hike the Pacific Crest Trail? Buy a house outside of Yosemite?
