River Run

January 24th - Day 16
If anyone is in need of an addition to your "life list" Shadow and I have one for you to add. Fly into Queenstown, NZ and hike or 4WD the Mavora River Track. Over half can be driven as long as you have all-wheel drive. You can also hike it. There are multiple huts for sleeping along the way and would be perfect for a fishing trip. The valley is massive with the river running down the middle. It has taken us 2 full days to walk the length of it. The water is crystal clear and cold. Most of the hike is exposed so the views are endless. Today we ended at Greenstone Hut. A popular place for locals and also a junction of a few other trails. The hut sleeps 20 and most of the beds were full so we camped outside. During dinner we met two other couples. One from Belgium and the other from Israel. The Belgium couple flew here with their bikes after cycling around SouthEast Asia. The Israel couple were born and live on a kibbutz built in 1948. We talked for hours about anything and everything. The world seems so small when you have so many things in common. It seems as though our travel list continues to grow with every person we meet.
