Home, For A Little While

We have arrived and settled into our spot for the season.  Our RV park is on a cliff overlooking where the Kenai River joins the Cook Inlet.  We are the only ones here and it's awesome!  Throughout the day we watch the tide rotate in and out while the bald eagles catch air off the cliffs. Judy's favorite part is the short walk to the dark grey sandy beach below where she can run off leash chasing the seagulls.  The curious seals follow along, but at  a safe distance from the shore.  The owner of the park tells us that in July thousands of Alaskans come to fish the Salmon with a net.  The beach will be packed during the run.  For now we are happy with the beach all to ourselves.  The town itself is full of everything we need.  Lots of chain stores which we were not thrilled with initially, but it's better than a 4 hour drive to Anchorage.  There's a store called Three Bears that buys items from Costco and brings them up to sell.  Gas prices are $4.19 a gallon and things are a little more expensive.  I picked up a pineapple yesterday and it was 8 dollars!  Avocados are my favorite and we could each eat one a day, but they are $2.50 each. Shadow is enjoying the three Breweries around the area.  The best part for me is that it's all walkable.  Lots of sidewalks.
