We have decided there would be too many regrets if we continued hiking the trail. There's just too much to see here and not enough time if we walk.
We hitched into Whangarei, 200 miles from Cape Regina and rented a car. One of the people that picked us up had a ukulele in the back seat! He asked me to play as he drove.
18hrs later we left town in a Nissan Cube. Driving on the wrong of the road, in the wrong seat. We headed back to the beach for a short hike to some secluded bays. Each are dramatically different. From golden sand to black. From rocky rugged cliffs to a surfers paradise. And that's all in a matter of 2 miles! As for our last month here, we plan to continue to Cape Regina, but now seeing every nook and cranny in between.
