Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

June 10- Lets see. Our day started with buttermilk pancakes and bacon. Then spent the morning arranging transportation to and from Shadow's family vacation. Next was lunch which consisted of turkey pot pie, BBQ quesadilla, salad, and chocolate cake. In three months I'll be reading this dreaming of the day that I could eat all that. Took the afternoon to rest, movie watch, and pack for our push to Harper Ferry. Early to bed and early to rise. That's the way to beat the heat.

June 11 Mile 942.6- Hiking is like running. You can have a bunch of bad days and one good day makes up for all the bad ones. Today was that way for me. We busted out 19 miles without any problems. I guess we needed that day off. The weather was perfect. A cool morning turned into a warm afternoon with a thunderstorm to cool us off. Made it to our last SNP food stop (Elkwallow). It was a burger joint that served blackberry milkshakes. We stuffed as much food as possible down and headed back to the trail for a flat spot to sleep. As we lay in the tent deciding what to write it sounds like rain, but it was only bugs hitting the tent. We made our planned distance plus a half mile today. Harpers by the 16th.
