April 24th - It was a HOT 13 mile hike into Erwin today. I can see that hiking this summer will be tough. Maybe a early morning hike, then a nap during the heat of the day in a creek somewhere, followed by an evening hike. The heat really zaps the energy and appetite. Your food intake is based on your energy level and not by hunger. Can't wait for the "Green Tunnel" everyone keeps talking about. Our Easter trail basket consisted of an ice cold PBR Beer from some trail magic we were given today around 10:30am and peanut M&Ms Kelly bought me for breakfast. Joyce meet us for pizza for our last supper with her. Planning to start busting out some miles the next few weeks to make up for our time partying with everyone. Next stop will be Hampton, TN on Friday if things go as planned.
