Truckin

April 19th - As we make dinner this evening at Flint Ridge the gnats tried to pack us away. I hate to put bug spray on right before bed, but it may be our only option. Two new items on the dinner menu this evening. In addition to our Lipton noodle packet... wait for it... Truffle Oil!! The stuff I have been dreaming about for 5 weeks now. Mom and Dad surprised me with a jar last weekend. The second new item of the evening was Jiffy Pop popcorn...with truffle oil of course. The timing was perfect to watch the sun set over the mountain.  We ate a good meal in our lounge chairs. The others at the shelter were jealous as they hunched over their Ramen on a log. Hahah! The day was long. We hiked 16 miles today for the second time. The first time we did that mileage it rained all day. This time was still difficult, but much more enjoyable. Joyce dropped us off this morning with bellies full of doughnuts. We plan to see her for the last time in Erwin,TN. Mile 300 was crossed today at Big Butt Mtn. Interesting name. There a huge rock at the top with a crack down the middle.
