April 2nd - Day 20 - This morning we headed for Fontana Village restaurant ready for a full on breakfast buffet only to find that the waitress was wrong from the night before and there was no breakfast buffet! There were so many disappointed hikers this morning. To make matters worse, the shuttle was out of service due to no driver. We hitch hiked back to the trail and headed for the Smokies. It was a long hike up hill as always after coming from town. Beautiful day, but the wind was howling. You could hear the trees creak as they swayed like an old door from a haunted house. Speaking of haunted, story goes that a Cherokee woman froze to death up on Molly's Ridge and still visits. This is my first experience in a shelter. So far we have tented near shelters, but never slept inside. It's a double decker 12 person one. We are on the top with another couple and there's a 2x4 right above my head with my name on it.
Location:Smokies
