Day 31 - 6am - We laughed at an owl outside the shelter. He was having the best time hooting. It sounded like a chimpanzee in a jungle. The sun rose as we ate oatmeal in the shelter. No one else showed up last night so we had the place to ourselves. The forest recovered from the rain and we were enjoying the 3 miles into one our favorite towns, Hot Springs. It's the first town where the AT actually goes through Main Street. It was bustling with hikers. Joyce met us at a diner and got to meet California and Flute at a going away brunch. We will miss them as we take the next couple weekends off to visit friends and family. Back on the trail Sunday!
