I can not believe it's been not only 2 months, but 600 miles! We have found our groove. Camp setup and take down is a piece of cake. What used to take an hour, we can do in half the time now. The faster we pitch the tent, carry water, and cook, the faster we can go to sleep. Water is everything out here. Some days we see it once, other days we wade in it. Our guide book does a pretty good job with springs and streams, but it all depends on mother nature.
We have found that hiking is like a bell curve. Slow to get out of town, find our stride within a day or two, speeds up into the next town. Once we get there the story changes. Our priority is food, shower, and laundry. I can tell we are changing out here. For example, in Aktins, VA, after our chores were completed we start becoming annoyed by all the ambient noise. The interstate, the rail road, the construction, we even turned off the T.V.   In the woods, our ambient noise is the birds in the morning and the bugs in the afternoon. The other day we stopped for a break and could only hear the sound of bug wings in the woods. Speaking of woods, the "Green Tunnel" has caught up with us finally. Plants are blooming and the scent of Spring is here. Surprisingly the once-a-day Zyrtec seems to help.
Laundry on the other hand has changed. Due to the increase in temperatures, stench has become an issue so we change our clothes and creek wash every 2 days. My Dad was right all these years when he said that you could get 2 days out of one pair of underwear if you turn them inside out.
Due to our increase of mileage per day, we have been carrying more food. It's a constant battle to eat only what is allotted for each meal until the day we come into town. Some days you are more hungry than others.
Our hiking rhythm that seems to work for us is 6am wake up, 7:30 departure from camp, 2 hour hike, snack, 1.5-2 more hours of hiking,  lunch, after lunch we stop every 1-1.5 for a snack and try to be at camp by 6:30pm.
