Falling off the Face of the Earth

May 21st- Sleeping on the side of a hill last night was like sleeping on a recliner. We were desperate and tired. We rushed to setup camp, rushed to eat, and rushed to sleep. We all woke this morning hoping for a better outlook, but no such luck. Everyone was still tired and fatigued from yesterday's 18 miler. We had a lot going for us today. After some morning mist we saw the sun after a week of clouds and rain. My shoes didn't know how to act. About a mile into to today's hike we passed the second largest Oak tree on the trail measuring 18 feet round and 300 years old. Stay tuned for photos. Next was to climb up a ridge line and walk on sheets of rock that were on 30 degree angle while trying not to look 3,000 feet down. The rugged trail wore us out. We ended the day on another ridgeline at Audie Murphy's memorial. It was a pleasent surprise to find a great camping spot since we had to carry our water up the ascent. It was a rough day, but we made it 14 miles. Stopping at country store for a late lunch and short resupply of food before heading to Daleville,VA. We are all ready for a shower and a bed.
