August 14 Mile 1673-
The best description of the day was pleasant. We thought rain was suppose to come in, but it held off. There have been so many places we have passed and would like to go back and enjoy more given the time. Today was one of those places. Little Rock Pond Shelter is a pristine glacial lake nestled in the mountains of Vermont. The Green Mountain Club actually pays someone during the summer to care for the shelter and tenting area along with 15 miles surrounding it. The GMC leaves a canoe for visitors to catch trout. If you follow the loop trail around to the other side there are rock cliffs perfect for jumping.
We stopped after a 15 mile day at Minerva Hinchery Shelter to beat the rain. One of my favorite things out here is to be cozy in the tent while listening to the rain fall.
