August 4 Mile 1530-
After recharging the batteries, champagne style on a beer budget, we were back where we left off. Massachusetts has been great hiking so far. Just enough elevation change, low on views, and water could go either way. It looks as though our time off has put us smack dab in a bubble. Today we leaped frogged back and forward between other hikers and ended the day at an old Shaker farm that was established in the 1780's. Too bad their religion practices celibacy. I hear their are only 3 Shakers left in the US.
Before lunch we passed Benedict pond. A beautiful secluded clear body of water with a nice trail that looped around it.
We sat at the camp fire tonight, before the bubble showed up and I had my world crushed. We were talking to a guy about zero days. He said he was planning one more zero before Maine. We told him that we take a day off every 9-10 days. He said "Well no offense, but you guys a older..." My mouth dropped. For once I was speechless. I told Shadow that he must shave his gray beard because it's making me look old!
