Your Home Town

August 13 Mile 1658-
Left Manchester Center, VT this morning after breakfast at The Lawyer and The Baker Cafe. She made the best blueberry muffin we have ever eaten. Yesterday was spent the usual way, running errands. Neither of us have given this much thought, but here we are in another town where we know no one, but see everyone we know. In the grocery, in the laundrymat, in the outfitter. Places that should be full of strangers are sprinkled with other thru hikers. It's an odd feeling, almost like every town we go through is our hometown.
This morning the trail took us somewhere unusual. A ski slope on Browley Mountain. The slope was called Round About. At the top was the ski lift, a lookout tower, and a ski patrol building used as a shelter for hikers in the Summer.
Vermont is treating us well, the mud is slowly going away and the views continue to get better. Our 15 mile day came to an end at Lost Pond Shelter.
