August 8 Mile 1591-
Some days are better than other out here. Today, for one reason or another had us both ready to get off the trail. The goal was to leave everything behind including daily stresses. The plan was for this to be an easy transition into Shadow's retirement life and for us to enjoy 6 months of seeing the countryside. Somewhere along the way the trail turned into a job. Us being out here was more stressful than our previous lives. Planning everything to precise detail kept us from enjoying our journey and only worrying about the destination. After a lengthy meeting before lunch, we decided to continue on Northbound, but to relax and not stress over making the miles on our schedule. In the big scheme of things we want to enjoy this experience especially since we have worked so hard to get to the best part.
On the bright side of things, we passed the Vermont border. Fingers crossed for good trails and good times ahead.
