August 1 Mile 1505-
Connecticut was there and gone before we knew it. By lunch we were eating beside an Ansel Adams creek in Massachusetts. We had 3 big climbs today with the first being the highest peak in Connecticut (Bear Mtn). A group of volunteers were out repairing parts of the trail. One of them had brownies for thru-hikers. It was the help we needed to push up the hill.
The next climb (Race Mtn) was full of summer campers enjoying the great views and steep ridges lines. Our third, Mt. Everett Massachusetts' second highest peak, was rushed due to an incoming thunderstorm
Around one mile from the end of our day Shadow spots an animal we have never seen before. A black squirrel! Being that our last home was made from cedar, we know squirrels. It's was the size of a grey one, but solid black. Nero day tomorrow followed by a zero day. We thought a town with a brewery and movie theater might recharge our batteries for the last 667 miles.

Beer and a movie! Awesome! Lots of good movie choices out now - enjoy the zero! Super excited for you guys, hopefully some day I will get the opportunity to hike the whole thing :)
PS- thought your title meant someone had dropped - you had me worried!
Ohh! Your right. That was a bad choice of song. Saw Dirty Nap in Delware Water Gap. He's doing well.
maybe it's also that I was taught to do chest compressions to the beat of 'another one bites the dust'. That's the pessimist in me. One could also do chest compressions to 'stayin' alive' :) Optimism.
