August 10 Mile 1625-
So far the Green Mountains of Vermont have treated us well. The woods here are similar to a rain forest in the Northwest. Moss covered stones line crystal clear streams. The trail is technical, muddy, and smells like Christmas. The kind of mud that leaves your foot without a shoe when you step in it.
We have had great temperatures North of New York. We actually hiked the first 3 miles in our rain jacket while the morning fog burned off.
Beavers dams have created most if the ponds we pass. Haven't seen one yet, they are busy creatures. Yesterday we pass a dam that was taller than us. It was weird to look up to see water.
Today we started seeing poop that we had never seen before on the trail. They looks like miniature Cadbury eggs. Sorry if I ruined Easter for anyone out there. At camp tonight we asked a couple from here and they said it was moose poop. We were surprise to see some much was the trail, but the couple said that moose love to walk on the trail.
Pushing into Manchester Center, VT for a much needed zero tomorrow.
