Main Street

August 20 Mile 1739-
Our morning was spent walking past mazes of clear tubing wrapping around trees. If you haven't figured it out, I'm talking about maple syrup farms. We came out of the woods and into the last town the AT takes us through with out having to hitchhike, Hanover, NH. The first two people we saw were two ladies. One offered us homemade banana bread and the other simply said hello and welcomed us to New Hampshire. Actually a third person took our picture on the VT/NH border and said that he was glad we were here. Needless to say, we have loved how friendly people are in New England.
The town of Hanover is home to Dartmouth College. The town is a typical ivy league college town. With a beautiful campus and great places to eat, we chose a burrito the size of my head for lunch. Next stop was the usual food shopping. When we called the motel for a shuttle they said it was out of service. The next thing we know, a housekeeper drove up in her PT Cruiser to take us to our room.

So happy the people are friendly! How are those winter clothes doing? It feels so soon for winter clothes- it's still running in the 90's down here. Enjoy Hanover!
