July 30 Mile 1490-
During our nightly tick check, we found one near Shadow's belly button. Our fingers crossed, but at the most we are thinking the tick had 24hrs on him. Great Barrington, MA, our next stop, has a hospital if he starts feeling bad.
Today was mine and Shadow's 7th anniversary. The started with creek water coffee and a large 4 1/2 foot rattlesnake sighting. This guy merged right in front of us on the trail. He laid there for a minute or so and then crossed to the other side. The sound of leaves cracking and he slithered away is a sound I will never forget.
Passed a view of the Lime Rock Racecourse. It's a 1.53 mile course that has had many celebrities speeding their classic cars including Paul Newman. On our last full day in Connecticut we passed by Fall Village. A town with a great waterfall for the hydroelectric company. We took an afternoon swim break and watch some crazy locals leap off the top cliff.
Our dinner menu has a new favorite entree. It's cold pasta salad with bacon bits and mayo or Italian dressing. It's easier to eat cold than hot right now.
