Another Place to Fall

July 12 Mile 1241-
We were told a while back to "grin and bare" PA because the White Mtns. were worth it. I hope they are right, because we got our butts handed to us today with the rocks. We are officially in Rocksylvania. Those of you that may come through this area and not know, there will be a sign "Welcome to Rocksylvania".
The terrain is full of different size rocks. Anywhere from a watermelon to a dining room table. They are unstable and move. In between them are leaves that obscure the ground so the trick is to use your sticks for balancing and not have them slide or get stuck between two stones. The last part of our day was a technical climb called the "knife's edge". True to it's name we found ourselves on a rocky ridge line bouldering large unstable stones while looking down the valley. It was during that climb that we ran into our first South Bounder (SOBO). We exchanged information about what was in the other's future along with good places to eat. Due to lack of water for the next few days we will have carry extra which means the climbing will be harder on the feet.
