July 14 Mile 1271-
Pennsylvania, you NOT be missed. Tomorrow is our last day and we could not be happier. I swear someone was looking the AT and said, "hikers sleep through Maryland so lets give them a nightmare in PA". At least today I never thought about being injured and needing a helicopter rescue. Today the trail kept us on a ridge line that was lace with pointy sharp rocks. Two of our springs were dry, but we were prepared. There was a roach motel at our only road crossing that had a spigot for water and sold can cokes for $1 each. Shadow told the lady we were going to order a pizza and in a thick Indian accent she said "No stay, No delivery". The thing was that we had already ordered the pizza. When she went back into her office, we moved our bags to the side of the building where she couldn't see, stopped the pizza guy before he came around front, and ate our dinner on the sidewalk like raccoons. The pizza was greasy and sloppy, but tasted great. Shadow asked for some toilet paper for a napkin, but I told him it was too valuable and to use the pizza box. On the way back to the trail we passed a mobile home park with a nice entrance sign, too bad is was a made from a marble headstone...creepy.
Stealth camping again tonight. Another tick check is in order after finding one on my wrist under my watch band last night.
