September 26 Mile 2080-
100.7 miles to go!
Our last town stop was topped off with another all-you-can-eat breakfast at the hostel. A few more fellow hikers we hadn't seen in a while rolled into town last night. It was great to catch up with everyone this morning. When you order breakfast at the hostel it's a 1-4 order. This is the number of each item you want for your first round. For example 3 means 3 pancakes, 3 eggs, 3 sausage links, 3 bacon strips, and potatoes. Plus orange juice and coffee. Shadow choked down a 2 plus 2 extra pancakes for his second round.
When you head North on the AT after Monson you enter the 100 miles wilderness. I guess at one point it was wilderness, but now there is a hostel about 70 miles in.
Looks as though the warm weather will continue another couple days which makes all these river crossing less painful. We are so use to fording every time we come to water that we mistakenly forded one about a half mile before we were suppose to. So we crossed, figured out we made a mistake, crossed back, hiked a half mile down the trail, and crossed correctly.
100 miles from the end and so far we have hiked every white blaze with the full weight of our packs. No shortcuts and no slacking.
