September 24&25 Mile 2066
114 miles to go!
It was a soggy walk into our last town of the AT. The 9 miles was full of creeks and river crossing. Made it just in time to enjoy lunch at the LakeShore Pub. As with most of our town stops, our eyes are bigger than our bellies. Our last zero was spent relaxing in Monson, ME. Monson is a pretty slow town with not much happening. The weather has been unseasonably warm, therefore the mosquitos are back. I think we have donated more blood to them than the Red Cross. Luckily there were some bug spray in a hiker box to get us through this coming week.
Today was spent plotting our last week on the trail. If things go as planned, it will take us 7 1/2 days to get to the base of Mt. Katadhin. The 8th day, pending good weather, will be our final climb.
For those of you in the Nashville area, save October 29th for a little get together for us to re-enter the real world.
